Primary Care Paramedics – Remote Manitoba

Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) Opportunities in Isolated – Semi Isolated and remote communities of Northern Manitoba 

You want to help people and make a difference. That’s why you got into EMS in the first place. This position allows you to help in not only an emergent role, but a preventative role also. The experiences you will gain in the North will be ones you will never forget. Into the outdoors? The chance to adventure the gorgeous geography of the Canadian Shield will be yours. That, and the ability to tell stories of travel in hovercraft, helicopters, and small aircraft.

Must-haves (minimum requirements): 

  • Current registration with the Manitoba College of Paramedics as a PCP or ACP 
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record  
  • Alignment with our values of expertise, passion, respect and care. 
  • Willingness to learn! There are a wealth of courses to take. 

Preference for: 

  • Experience in a community setting, 
  • Maintain integrity as well as follow all of Athabasca Basin’s policies and procedures as well as the clients.

Job Description

This work involved providing paramedic services and health guidance to individuals, families, and groups in Northern communities of Manitoba. Our goal is to provide our communities with gentle guidance with the prevention of disease and the promotion and maintenance of health. This opportunity also involves delivering primary care and emergency services (potentially participating in medevacs and medical evacuations) of a mental health, medical, obstetrical or trauma related nature. 

Your scope of practice will follow the parameters of the College of Manitoba, and you will have the chance to learn more about community cultures and trauma-related care. You could also have the chance to view the beauty of the area through travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles, snowmobiles, and other similar modes of transportation, including small watercraft, in varied weather conditions, to communities in Remote, Semi-Isolated, and Isolated areas. 

Job Qualifications

Requirements – Possess or willing to acquire 

  • Valid registration/ licensure, with no restrictions, with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba 
  • 1,950 Regular Working hours of experience 
  • Hold a valid Class 4 Driver’s License 
  • Obtain a Reliability Status level security clearance 

Certifications 

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers 
  • Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS) 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) 
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) – 2015 Version 
  • FNIHB, Manitoba immunization certification
